Apple has come to the rescue again. Yesterday, it released IOS 16.1. Today, there is news of new functions. According to the news, the satellite communication function of iPhone 14 will support more regions, which does not seem to be very attractive to many small partners. But what Apple is good at is to win by surprise. People are still curious about this new function. What exactly is it?

All four iPhone 14 models include the new satellite communication emergency SOS function, which will be launched in the United States and Canada in November. A new report today says thatApple plans to expand this function to other countries/regions over time

It is reported that Apple informed the Swiss website MacPrime that the company plans to launch satellite emergency SOS services in more countries/regions later this year, including the expansion next year, but it is not clear when this feature will be actually launched in other countries/regions.

The satellite emergency SOS is designed to enable iPhone 14 series models to be directly connected to the satellite, allowing users to send emergency service SMS outside the cellular network and Wi Fi coverage. When the feature was launched in the United States and Canada, Apple said the service would be free for the first two years.

Apple released a new support document today, which lists eight scenarios in which the iPhone will turn off the rest screen display:

The iPhone is placed face down, the iPhone is placed in a pocket or bag, the Sleep Focus is turned on, the low battery mode is turned on, the iPhone is connected to CarPlay, the continuity camera is used, the user has not used the iPhone for a period of time, and the user wears an Apple Watch to stay away from the iPhone.

Apple's iPhone 14/Pro series devices are equipped with new ambient light sensors on the back, while previous iPhones were equipped with only one ambient light sensor above the display screen. The sensor helps to adjust the display brightness and determine the exposure of the rear camera.

First of all, this function will be launched in the United States and Canada in November. However, many small partners said that this function sounds very tall, but in fact, it is not used. They do not want to venture into no man's land or go to the Arctic to investigate, so this function cannot really attract many users.
