According to Counterpoint Research, China's smartphone sales continued to decline in the third quarter. The company said that demand was unlikely to improve before 2023 due to the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 epidemic and economic weakness.

Due to weak consumer demand, the sales volume decreased by 12.4% year on year, the sixth consecutive annual decline.

Apple and Glory are the only companies in the top five to achieve sales growth and share increase.

The sales volume of iPhones increased by 6.8%, which increased Apple's market share by 2.8 percentage points to 15.3%, ranking fourth over Xiaomi.

Glory's share rose to 17.2% from 14.7% in the third quarter of 2021, with a 2.5% increase in sales.

The sales volume and market share of vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi, the market leaders, declined by double digits.

Last week, IDC reported that China's smartphone shipments fell 11.9% in the third quarter to 71.1 million units.

Arthur Guo, senior market analyst of IDC in China, said that due to the COVID-19 case and "adverse domestic and international economic conditions", it is unlikely to recover in the short term.
